To move forward with any of my permits or assessments I need to do a first aid course. I found a REC2 course in Hemel that I attended with Chris from the Quarries.
It was a great course and was suited well to outdoor first aid. This also ticked the first aim of the year “get a qualification”.
I was also talking to one of the instructors and she gave me a number to get some experience with groups in the hills and also paid work for when I pass my assessment.
One of this years goals was to get a qualification. Choosing to go for my ML at the qualification is a bit of ask but doing my training will be a start.
The training was split over 3 weekends in North wales at Yr Haford. The first weekend was mainly navigation, the second was micro navigation and the third was the expedition which covered rope work, night nav and wild camping.
I was confident with all three weekends and got great feedback about my skills. I just need more mountain days before my assessment.
So more trips in to the mountains.
