Mountain Day – Joining Instructions

We are delighted that you’ve chosen to join us for a day of walking in the mountains. Whether you’re looking to immerse yourself in tranquil natural beauty, challenge yourself physically, or simply escape the hustle and bustle for a day, our goal is to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience in the great outdoors. Here’s what you need to know to prepare for your adventure.

What to Expect

  • Meeting Point: The specific meeting location for our walk will be provided a couple of days in advance. Please be ready for an invigorating day, starting at 9:00 AM and concluding around 4:00 PM.
  • Terrain and Difficulty: Our chosen route is designed to cater to a wide range of abilities. You can expect a mix of paths, including gentle slopes and potentially some more challenging sections, depending on the group’s overall ability and conditions on the day.
  • Group Size: Keeping our groups small allows us to provide personalized attention and guidance, ensuring a fulfilling and enjoyable experience for everyone.

What to Bring

  • Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots or walking shoes with good grip are essential. They should be well broken-in to minimize the risk of blisters.
  • Clothing: Dress in layers to easily adapt to changing weather conditions. Waterproof and windproof layers are highly recommended, as mountain weather can be unpredictable.
  • Food and Water: Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day. Snacks are also a good idea to keep your energy levels up.
  • Personal Items: Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a small backpack for carrying your items are must-haves. Consider bringing a camera or smartphone (in a protective case) to capture the stunning scenery.
  • Additional Gear: A walking pole can be helpful, especially in uneven terrain. Don’t forget to pack a personal first aid kit and any necessary medications.

If the Weather is Wet

The UK weather can be unpredictable, but don’t worry; we have plans for all conditions:

  • Light Rain: Our walk will proceed, focusing on trails that are safe and enjoyable, even in damp conditions.
  • Alternative Plan: Should the weather conditions not permit a safe and enjoyable walk, we will offer an alternative activity, such as a guided nature walk in a sheltered area or a visit to a local attraction of natural or historical significance.
  • Cancellation/Rescheduling: Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. If severe weather conditions are expected, we will offer the option to cancel or reschedule the walk.
